Leopold-Franzens-Universität Innsbruck

The University of Innsbruck was founded in 1669 and is the biggest and most important research and education institution in western Austria, with more than 27.500 students and over 4.500 staff and faculty members.
The Department of Science and Mathematics Education coordinates research and teacher training in STEM subjects at the University of Innsbruck.

Its field of work includes:

  • facilitating a close collaboration with science researchers and science teacher educators at the University as well as professionals at secondary schools, education authorities and other educational institution
  • offering regional and national advanced vocational training
  • conveying knowledge and skills
  • organizing international and national conventions of science teaching research
  • national and international STEM related projects
  • supporting our students in all STEM related fields (classes, theses and dissertations)
  • conducting science education as well as science education research projects
